What Fox Saw
Fox was red. Red as the late setting sun. Red as Indian Paint Brush flowers. Fox had a beautiful bushy tail. His tail was the problem, however. His tail is what this tale is about. Because Fox was so Red you would think his name would be red, but when he was born...his mother cried out, "Come and look at Fox's Tail!" And she held the little pup up for all to see, and sure enough there it was. It was a beautiful, bushy tail, but oh my!....well, when Fox turned 6 he found out what the OH My! was all about. He looked into the pond down by his friend's house, and that day he learned how he got his name. Fox's tail was blue. As Blue as the sky on a spring morning, a bright winter's day, or a crisp cool autumn. So his name was Blue.

Fox Can Not Remember
Blue could not remember when he was not called Blue. A young girl or boy would walk by and say, "Oh! Are you ever blue!" And of course, Blue would say, "Well, yes I am. How did you know my name? Have we met before?" This led Blue to talking about all sorts of "Blue things, flowers, moods, music, jazz, skies, lakes and ponds. This would lead Blue to inviting his new friends over for a picnic, beside the blue pond, by his and Lucky, his friend, homes. They would sit and play their music, eat and talk...about blue things. If it was a problem, having a blue tail...well Blue would have said it was not...and anyone saying so was telling a tale. So life was pretty good for Blue and all of his friends. Until....

If You Were Fox What Would You Do
Blue went to Fix It City with his friend, Lucky, and his father. There no one knew little Blue, and all of the other animals ran to and fro, going here and going there, never seeming to get anywhere...and all the police, who directed all the goings and comings...wore BLUE BANDS...on their tails...They would hold their tails straight out for go...up for stop...and left or right for turning. It worked very well until Blue came to town. When ever he got got excited about something...he would wag his tail, just as any up standing young fox will, with great, large, sweeping left and rights...ups and downs...and all of the cars, trucks, buses, bikes, and animals were going up when they should be stopping, going left when they should be going right...stopping when they should be going...all because of Blue's great, bushy BLUE tail. His father got him into a little store on a street corner at once...and got some dye from the store keeper. Into the rest room they went...and when Blue came out...what color do you think his tale was...A little yellow...on top of his blue...and Blue had the GREENEST TAIL you have ever seen...and that was just fine until.....
